History of Limbus and how the vision came to be

“LIMBUS was born exactly on Christmas eve of 2011 when I was getting together with my family. I had bought a bottle of wine to make a toast. I still had my work uniform on. We couldn’t find a corkscrew. It was a rainy night (in Cusco it always rains at Christmas time). So, I went into the apartments that are actually located back to back with the bar to search for a corkscrew because my brother didn’t want to.

I remember that night well, for some reason I was very lucid and awake, it was about 1:00 a.m. and looking through the clutter of the place I could not find a corkscrew. I am a bit stubborn sometimes. I had bought that bottle of wine especially for that night and none other, so I found a knife and pushed in the Cork. It broke. I served myself a drink and went out into the hallway. I had a moment of mental clarity, a beautiful vision; I was inspired by the vast view of the city. As I was soaking in the rain that night it hit me that I was going to build the best bar and restaurant in Cusco.

Slowly walking through shrubs, I tried to see just a little bit of how it would be if that dream was a reality. I closed my eyes and imagined it: many people laughing, eating, walking around exactly as it is today, I went back to the room with my family and talked with them about my vision. My father discouraged me referring to the cost, my mother told me (just like her to say) that it would be a good idea. I couldn’t sleep, the boundless imagination of the moment made me see the future. It was then that I repeatedly started to say “life is too short to not try”.

A leap of faith called LIMBUS

The idea was so good that I quit my job. Everyone said that I was crazy, that I didn’t have the money to start it or that I hadn’t studied enough for this. In this case being stubborn was a virtue so I had made small business deals, searched for another job, and then another and another and another, for four years we built up the walls, ceilings, and floors, etc.; the path to realize LIMBUS is a story which includes an accident with a spine injury that almost left me in bed for the rest of my life. But even being bed-ridden I continued planning and adding details to my idea.

When I was able to get up and with the help of my good friends we worked hard until we were able to turn that dream into a reality. We opened it with fear, but a healthy fear that makes you do things right, which makes you realize that comfort and satisfaction of our customers is the sole reason we are around. We wanted everything to go its very best, to our joy it went very well. It is the dream come true that you can come see now. “At your service, RESTOBAR LIMBUS”.

  • I am not lying when I say that this restobar has a better view than the viewpoint of the city . Besides the view , you have vegetarian and vegan options. Prices vary between 15 and 20 soles and drinks masomenos 10. It’s a very nice place that would not last to return
